2017 ARMA Greater Columbus Spring Seminar

Information Governance Bootcamp

IGI Founder and Chair Bennett B. Borden

New and powerful technologies are changing the way we communicate, conduct business, and record our history. We are rapidly progressing beyond the paper to electronic record transition into a more visual, multi-media world of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube to reach our customers, colleagues, and communities. As a result, the Records and Information Management (RIM) profession is experiencing a major transformation from traditional records management to a broader paradigm of comprehensive governance of all organizational information and content.

The Greater Columbus Chapter of ARMA International #ARMAGC is embracing this new world with our Spring Seminar: Information Governance Boot Camp.

The seminar is scheduled on Thursday, May 18th starting at 8am and will be held in the Ashland Auditorium at:
Ashland LLC., 5200 Blazer Parkway, Dublin, OH 43017

The Special Functions room will be available for folks to use for lunch meetings etc as it is located next to the Cafeteria.

Approval Pending for CIP credits and CRM credits.

This year’s speaker is Bennett B. Borden, a globally recognized authority on the legal, technological and policy implications of information.

Bennett has focused his career on helping clients use the power of information governance to drive strategic outcomes, reduce e-discovery costs, and improve business operations.

Beginning with his work in the intelligence community, and continuing to his current positions as Chief Data Scientist and Chair of Information Governance at Drinker Biddle & Reath, LLP, Founder & Chair of the Information Governance Initiative, and Executive Managing Director of Tritura IG LLC, Bennett understands that electronic information is a reflection of human thought, choice and conduct. Properly leveraged and protected, information can be a powerful force in achieving business, governmental and societal objectives. Harnessing this force and harvesting the benefits of its application is what drives Bennett’s work.

Bennett is Chair of the Cloud Computing Committee and Vice Chair of the eDiscovery and Digital Evidence Committee of the Science and Technology Law Section of the American Bar Association. He is also a founding member of the steering committee for the Electronic Discovery Section of the District of Columbia Bar, an Information Governance drafting group member of The Sedona Conference, an Advisory Committee Member for the Georgetown Paralegal Studies Program and a Board Member for the D.C. Chapter of ARMA.

He is a frequent speaker and author and a guest lecturer at Georgetown University Law Center, the University of Virginia Law School, Temple University Law School, and the University of Maryland College of Information Studies.

In addition to conducting both offensive and defensive electronic discovery in complex litigation, Bennett has extensive experience counseling clients on the establishment of information governance and records management policies. He regularly advises multinational clients regarding data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
