Job Description Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Information Governance, the Consultant, Information Governance (IG) will support the development of the Information Governance and Records Management Programs. The Consultant is responsible for supporting IG and RIM operations for the company in addition to promoting awareness across the organization. The position is responsible for understanding and assisting with maintaining processes, policies, and appropriate controls that ensure compliance for the proper management of structured and unstructured data/information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with IG team to implement and manage processes and procedures that support IG and RIM initiatives company wide.
- Assist in the implementation of IG practices and monitor progress against established best practices and business objectives.

- Support IG and RIM program development including policy, standards and procedure development.
- Assist in developing, consolidating and globalizing Records Retention Schedules.
- Provide program rollout and implementation support.
- Manage tools and communication platforms, including the IG intranet page used in the deployment of awareness and training.
- Provide project management, scheduling, coordination, and change management support.
- Provide vendor management support, including invoicing, storage, shred, and other vendor related issues.

- Align internal network of records practitioners embedded in the company across the organization. Assist with alignment through training and support for the program within their area of responsibility.
- Assist with communication, training, and collateral development.
- Identify and coordinate RIM/IG requirements related to electronic data and information retention, disposition, and preservation, including tactical support for strategies to managed structured and unstructured content, regardless of location or storage repository (e.g., third party SaaS applications, relational databases, data warehouses, etc.).
- Serve as project manager on RIM-related technology projects, including strategy and business process development, and collaborate with IT to define and implement software solutions.
- Monitor off-site storage repositories (Company-owned and third party) and volumes and monitor the records disposition process.
- Monitor compliance with established off-site storage processes to ensure the timely retrieval and preservation of information assets.
- Communicate effectively with vendors to level set service expectations and troubleshoot service issues.
- Serve as system administrator for off-site vendors records database where company records are stored.
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong technology background; previous experience in database management and content management desired
- Advanced computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office products
- Analytical and business process development skills
- Familiarity with the Information Governance and Records Management best practices and reference models.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills that enable deadlines to be met on a consistent basis
- Project management experience
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
- Self-motivated; can function with limited direction
- Experience working in a developing or developed IG or RIM program within a global organization
- Strong relationship/interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of associates as well as outside vendors
- Experience in IG and RIM, retention and disposition, and electronic records management preferred.
Education and Training
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- Certified Information Professional (CIP), Certified Records Manager (CRM), Certified Records Analyst (CRA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), ECM or ERM Specialist (AIIM), or equivalent industry or technology designations preferred
- Active participation in ARMA (Association of Records Managers & Administrators) and AIIM (Association for Information and Image Management) or other professional associations.
