The ARMA Greater Columbus Chapter welcomes Deputy Gus Moore and Deputy Corey Love
The Sheriff’s Office program is a combination of the 3 nationally recognized Active Shooter programs, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Run, Hide, Fight, Alice Training Institute (ATI) Alert Lockdown Inform Counter Evacuate, and Texas State University’s, Citizens Response to an Active Shooter Event (CRASE). The Licking County Sheriff’s Office has taken the best of each program, adding a medical portion to it to create SASA – Surviving an Active Shooter Attack.

This program covers the history and statistics of Active Shooter Events, along with Law Enforcement, Fire/EMS response. The program focuses on enhancing the lock-down procedures already in place. The students are taught simple techniques that increase the chances of surviving a Violent Attack. The lecture helps to develop the correct mindset for survival, the “Warrior Mindset”, allowing attendees to realize the strongest muscle in their bodies is the brain.
The program is taught by a 25+ year Law Enforcement Veteran and current SWAT team member. The program has been taught and is used by 8 School Districts in Licking County Ohio, along with Denison University. Gus Moore has been the featured Presenter at various Conferences to include, National Social Workers, UMC Church Conference along with additional Churches, Banks, Doctors Offices, Contract Lumber, THK, Behavioral Health Partners of Ohio, Rudolph Foods, Licking County Government Offices, Ohio Department of Transportation, 4H of Ohio, Mobile Power Wash (MPW), Girls Scouts of America, Energy Co-Op, Hartford Fair Board and State of Ohio Fair board Managers Association.
Deputy Moore started his Law Enforcement career in 1992 and has been with a Central Ohio Sheriff’s Office since 1993. He has worked in Corrections, Patrol, Detective, Civil and Community Service Divisions. He is also the current Entry Team Leader of the Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and has been a member of the team for more than 20 years. His current assignment as the School and Community Safety Liaison finds Gus in the Schools and Local Businesses teaching and training staff on Active Shooter Awareness. He also reviews and assist in the creation of Emergency Operation Plans for the local school districts.
Deputy Love – Has been with the Licking County Sheriff’s Office for 16 years. Corey has worked Corrections, Detectives and Community Services Division. He currently is a member of the Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and serves as the Community Relations Deputy for the Sheriff’s Office.
This is a lunch meeting held from 11:30 am – 2:00 pm at Hofbrauhaus Columbus in Grandview Yard in the Schalander Banquet room.
Each monthly meeting will have the following format:
11:30-11:45 – Networking and Order Lunch
11:45-12:00 – Announcements and “I found it at ARMA” education brief
12:00-12:30 – Lunch and Networking
12:30-2:00 – Monthly Speaker
